Virtual EMDR Training on Zoom

Our EMDR Basic Training runs live on Zoom, so clinicians across Canada and the US can train without travelling. It's the same EMDRIA-approved program as the in-person course: live teaching, demonstrations and supervised practice, led by Kyle Poon, R.Psych, EMDRIA Approved Trainer.

How the virtual training works

  • Every session is live and interactive. Nothing is pre-recorded.

  • It follows the structure the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) sets for Basic Training: 20 hours of instruction, 20 hours of supervised practicum and 10 hours of consultation.

  • In the practicum, you practise EMDR in small breakout groups, taking turns as clinician, client and observer, with direct observation and feedback.

  • The November 2026 training runs over five days in two blocks: Days 1–3 on Nov 16–18 and Days 4–5 on Nov 23–24, 8:00 am–5:30 pm Alberta time (6:00–3:30 US Pacific; 7:00–4:30 BC, Yukon and US Mountain; 8:00–5:30 Saskatchewan and US Central; 9:00–6:30 Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and US Eastern; 10:00–7:30 Atlantic).

What you'll need

  • A computer with a working camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection that meets Zoom's requirements. You can't join from a phone or tablet.

  • A private, quiet space where you can take part in practice sessions confidentially.

  • A personal email address for registration. Some workplace email systems block Zoom invitations.

Attendance

  • Plan to attend every session in full with your camera on. Full attendance is required for your certificate and CE credit, and partial attendance doesn't earn CE credit.

  • Your Zoom invitation arrives by email before the training starts.

Before and after the training

  • After: you complete 10 hours of small-group consultation, also online. See Consultation.

  • You have 12 months from your start date to finish the consultation hours and the EMDRIA learner assessment.
