Consultation for EMDRIA Consultants-in-Training

If you’re an EMDRIA Certified Therapist working toward becoming an Approved Consultant, you need consultation on your consultation. Kyle Poon, M.Ed., R.Psych, is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and Approved Trainer, and supports Consultants-in-Training (CITs) worldwide as they learn to guide other clinicians.

What the CIT path requires

EMDRIA’s updated Approved Consultant standards took effect in January 2026. As of October 2026, you need to:

  • hold EMDRIA Certification, then submit the CIT Declaration. Your five-year window starts that day, and you can’t apply until at least one year later.
  • add an Approved Consultant to your EMDRIA profile, which activates your CIT status
  • complete 20 hours of consultation-of-consultation with up to three Approved Consultants, at least 10 of them individual. Hours from before your declaration don’t count.
  • provide at least 15 hours of consultation to at least 5 consultees, at least 3 of whom have finished an EMDRIA-approved Basic Training
  • complete at least 250 more EMDR sessions with at least 25 more clients beyond what you reported for certification
  • complete 12 EMDRIA Credits, including EMDRIA’s two free consultant courses
  • get the online Verification, Evaluation and Recommendation form from each consultant, with a recommendation from the one who provided most of your hours

  • Giving clear, useful feedback and judging a consultee’s readiness
  • Running consultation groups
  • Ethical and practical situations that come up in consultation
  • Your own development as a consultant, informed by Kyle’s experience training clinicians in EMDR

How it works

  • Online by secure video, for clinicians worldwide
  • Individual consultation: $235 CAD per hour, plus applicable taxes
  • Group consultation: after your 10 individual hours, your remaining hours can be in a small group of up to 6 clinicians. Contact Kyle for current groups and pricing.
  • Kyle can be listed as your Approved Consultant on your EMDRIA profile and will complete the Verification, Evaluation and Recommendation form for your application.
